Picture Special: Pride in The Port, Belle Vue Park, Newport

Crowds of people from across South Wales made their way to Newport’s Belle Vue Park on Saturday September 3 for the city’s first ever LGBTQI+ Pride in the Port event.

Pride in the Port defied the grey skies and occasional drizzle with sunshine and glitter as performers, including Welsh drag artist Ruby Slippers, singer Zoila Garman, dance artists Metal Maidens, dance group Fusion Dance and drama company Spotlight delighted park visitors.

Baroness Debbie Wilcox and Member of the Senedd for Delyn Hannah Blythyn were also present to speak on the importance of Newport’s Pride event. The free event, which ran from 12pm to 6pm also featured many stalls and information points representing many LGBTQI+ participants and Newport Pride sponsors.
