My Music DNA: Pip Millett Reveals Music Inspirations Ahead of UK Tour Dates

Manchester singer-songwriter Pip Millett has announced a new headline UK tour for autumn 2022.

Pip’s tour will give fans the opportunity to witness her skilful artistry live, spanning across nine dates in cities such as Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol and more, and including a night at London’s iconic O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (on 8th November).

Pip Millett’s dignity and rare poise continue to snap up the attention amongst BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra and BBC 6Music – underlining the sense of an extremely special artist forging her own path. In just three years, the 24-year-old Mancunian talent has developed into one of our most thoughtful homegrown voices with an ability to reflect on political and social issues in a deeply personal and evocative way.

Pip will play Bristol’s SWX on November 7, in the meantime, she discusses her Music influences with Andy Howells..

What was the first song that made an impact on you?

Bob Marley – Waiting In Vain. I found it on YouTube and couldn’t stop listening to it for years! I still love it.

What was the first single/download you bought?

I really used to only listen to music that my brother downloaded and put on a CD. He put Otis Redding – Dock of the Bay on one of the early ones which I remember loving.

What was the first album you owned?

Christina Aguilera – Back to Basics

What’s your constant go to track?

I don’t have a go to… I go for whatever mood I am in!

What’s your constant go to album?

I listen to Angela Munoz – Introspection a lot

Who’s your latest music discovery?

I’m enjoying Topaz Jones at the moment

What’s your own track that best defines you as an artist?

I think I could only be defined as a collection of songs, not one! Each song is only a small part of me. So, anything from the forthcoming debut album.
