Have you ever wondered if pantomime stars get recognised off stage or if the actress playing Maid Marion has a burning ambition to play a dream role in musical theatre?

Prior to Christmas, Andy Howells met the cast of Newport’s Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre 2022-23 panto, Robin Hood to discover the answer to these and many other questions.

Robin Hood was recently reviewed by Entertainment South Wales as a “A smash hit panto in every sense” and stars Richard Elis (in his 11th Riverfront pantomime) as Much the Millers Son, Geraint Rhys Edwards as Robin Hood, Aled Pugh as the sheriff of Nottingham, Gareth Tempest as Dotty & Rhiannon Porter as Maid Marion.

Across four videos for Entertainment South Wales, Andy Howells chats to the cast of Robin Hood about their panto roles and even shares a couple of Christmas Jokes and random questions from the Christmas Quiz Tin.

The cast get to to share their thoughts on the medium of pantomime. “it’s not just a piece of theatre, it’s an art,” enthuses Geraint Rhys Edwards, “It’s a spectacle! There’s loads of big numbers, dance routines and magic, lots of fun and laughter.”
