A new book – Fortune and Fame by Jonathan Power with David Collins – is the inspirational story of how one man rose from the ranks of humble post boy to become a leading figure in advising and representing the world’s biggest names in sport and entertainment.
Over an incredible career, Jonathan Power – who was raised in Haverfordwest and who today lives in North Cardiff – advised the biggest stars in the Premier League from clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as British Lions rugby players and world champions in Boxing and Snooker.
Pop stars and songwriters also sought his financial and agency advice. The ultimate validation came when Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Geoff Hurst – the only man to score a hat trick in a World Cup final – became Patron and Non-Executive Directors of his company.
As Jonathan emerged onto the showbiz scene as a producer, he worked and rubbed shoulders with the world’s biggest entertainment stars including Idina Menzel, Nigel Lythgoe, Elton John, Lionel Richie, Sir Ian McKellen and George Michael.
Fortune and Fame is also a deeply personal account of Jonathan’s struggle with cancer at the age of 52, and of how he overcame the biggest challenge of his life.
The title, published by Cambria Publishing, is available to pre-order in hardback, paperback and as an e-book from Amazon, Waterstones and other retail outlets. The story is told over 13 chapters, with a foreword, prologue, and epilogue. The book is also illuminated by private photographs that highlight his remarkable life.
Fortune and Fame is released in support of Velindre Cancer Centre, with 10% of all proceeds going toward charity initiatives. Learn more about the work of Velindre here.
