Greedy Pig Theatre Company To Present Peacock at Newport’s Riverfront

Thomas Howells previews Greedy Pig Theatre Company’s play, Peacock at Newport’s Riverfront Theatre.

Greedy Pig Theatre Company focuses on exploring social issues around gender and sexuality. Their debut play, “Peacock” is a story about a bisexual man who is exploring his relationship with makeup and masculinity. The play was written by Douglas Murdoch and directed by Lex Kaby.

The cast consists of:

Alex Wollacot as Violet – This individual has a lot of experience working in theatre, as an actor, director, facilitator, drag king and choreographer. They bring a unique energy and openness to devising processes, and are known for their storytelling, comedic skills and dancing abilities. They have also acted in several productions, and directed a few plays.

Ben Armitage as Seamus – Ben studied acting at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating in 2021. Ben has worked in many productions, including Malcolm in Macbeth, Sir Henry Baskerville in The Hound of the Baskervilles, and Edward in Skylight.

Kofi Dennis as Tyrell – Kofi trained at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. He has worked on stage in productions of Grimm Tales for Fragile Minds and Broken People, Duchess of Malfi, Romeo and Juliet, Keeping Up with Kassandra (Creation Theatre – Digital) and many more. He has also appeared on television in The National Lottery’s Big Night at the Musicals (BBC).

Toby Mitchell as Noah – Toby, an actor from Wiltshire has recently trained with Bath Theatre Academy and will be making his professional stage debut in “Peacock” in February 2023.

The play will be in The Riverfront, Newport on the 10th February 2023. The age rating is 14+ and there are warnings of mentions of suicide, discussion of homophobia and strong language.
