Five years on from their acclaimed second album, Public Mono, South Wales rockers Burning Ferns are back with their AA side single The Town Crier and Nothing to Hide released through Country Mile.
Both sides the release are from the pen of songwriter Tony Gray’s and offer contrasting glimpses of Burning Ferns new album World of The Wars due in April.
The Town Crier, the sound of a sane man at the end of his tether in the face of a world gone wrong, is a pop masterclass of ringing guitars and Ennio Morricone inspired backing vocals. In contrast Nothing to Hide is a rare Burning Ferns love song, which hints at the more varied textures and startling musicality of the new album as a whole.

For the new record, Tony, and fellow Ferns, Nathan Abraham (Guitar/Vocals), Brychan Todd (Bass/Keyboards) and Dave Corten (Guitar/Vocals), have been joined by New York’s finest Erik Stams on drums.
Recent support slots for the band have included Gruff Rhys and Martin Carr, while the band recently returned to live duties with a sold-out homecoming show at Newport’s Le Pub.
The single has been mixed by Charlie Francis (REM/High Llamas/Robyn Hitchcock) while the cover artwork has been provided by Newport luminary Jon Langford (The Mekons/Men of Gwent/Waco Brothers). It is released on download from the usual digital stores and highly limited 7″ vinyl on Friday 3rd March.
