Iceland Symphony Orchestra Join Forces with Sir Stephen Hough at St David’s Hall

THE Cardiff Classical Series continues at St David’s Hall on Thursday 27 April with a rare chance to experience the Iceland Symphony Orchestra joining forces with Sir Stephen Hough.

Led by conductor Eva Ollikainen, the unique musical landscape of Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir starts the evening with Metacosmos.

Sir Stephen Hough’s recorded Beethoven cycle received universal acclaim in 2020, so his return to the National Concert Hall of Wales for the composer’s Third Piano Concerto is eagerly anticipated.

An epic finale is provided by Tchaikovsky’s barnstorming Fifth Symphony, which traverses from darkness to light and from despair to triumph.

The concert will be preceded with a free talk from Dr Jonathan James on Level 1 at 6:30pm
