The 28th Maindee Festival took place on July 1st 2023. This years theme was “Belonging” and the festival certainly encompassed that as it included many genres and themes for people to discover, enjoy and belong.
Newport City Radio hosted an afternoon of lively and uplifting local music talent from Ampersand, Zoila, Frankie Wesson Duo, Right Keys Only, Gypsy Stars Choir, Ruby Kelly and Delicious Dee.

Over at the spoken word tent, there was much inspiration to be had from local storytellers, writers and poets including Richard Berry, Tony Lawrence and Alan Roderick & Friends.
Other delights included stalls from local traders, a tent of amazing things and a dance music and youth tent. All events were held in the grounds of Maindee primary school for the first time since lockdown.
