Spencer Segelov & Great Paintings have released their debut single, “And We Get Burned” backed with “Couples Therapy” via South Wales’ Country Mile label.
Segelov has been prevalent on the music scene in Wales for the last decade working with John Mouse, The School, Simon Love & Sweet Baboo. He has recorded several albums as both a solo artist and with bands backing him including the highly rated Spencer McGarry Season.
For the debut release, Spencer has formed a super group of Welsh musicians known as Spencer Segelov & Great Paintings. The band have have several gigs planned for the coming months. The two tracks on the single are the first songs to be made available from the band’s future classic album “You’re A Lighthouse, I’m At Sea” due to be released on Country Mile Records in October.
The tunes were written and recorded by Spencer during the COVID lockdown period as a way to bring light into very dark times. They have been likened to the uplifting and energetic indie pop reminiscent of XTC and early Talking Heads.
The single has been mixed by Charlie Francis (REM/High Llamas/Robyn Hitchcock) and is released on download from the usual digital stores and can be streamed via Spotify and Bandcamp. A highly limited lathe 7″ vinyl record in a picture sleeve will also be available on Friday 7th July via Bandcamp.
