Picture Special: Tafwyl 2023, Bute Park, Cardiff

Andy Howells checks out Cardiff’s best festival, Tafwyl, bringing the best of Welsh arts and culture to Cardiff’s Bute Park for 2023.

Presented by Menter Caerdydd – the organisation that promotes the use of the Welsh language in the capital, Cardiff’s best festival, Tafwyl returned to Cardiff on Saturday.

The event is held over two days in Bute Park on 15-16th July. The first ever Tafwyl was held in 2006 outside a Cardiff pub. The organisers are hopeful this will be the biggest Tafwyl yet, attracting a crowd of more than 35,000 to enjoy some of the most exciting music acts in Wales.

Tafwyl offers a lot in the form of Welsh culture and arts for all ages. There is also a selection of Welsh traders for the festival goer to purchase a variety of food, drink, arts, crafts and clothing from.

Saturday’s event featured lots of music performances across several venues in Bute Park and despite occasional rain, festival goers enjoyed sounds from many Welsh artists including Ynys, Ani Glass, Ble?, Skylrk, Eadyth, Pys Melyn & Florian Ebel, HMS Morris and Dafydd Iwan.
