Prepare for a whirlwind of high school humour and horror as Heathers The Musical takes centre stage once again.
Following its successful West End runs, the darkly comedic rock musical is embarking on a tour across the UK and Ireland, taking in a performance at cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre from August 22nd to 26th, 2023.
Leading the pack is Jenna Innes, known for her performance in Les Misérables, who will be portraying the angst-ridden Veronica Sawyer, the central character of the story. Taking on the role of the enigmatic rebel, Jason ‘J.D.’ Dean is Jacob Fowler, who previously graced the stage in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
Leading one of the most notable musical trios is Verity Thompson, from Cinderella, steps into the shoes of the powerful Heather Chandler, while Elise Zavou, known for Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World, brings her skills to the role of Heather Duke. Billie Bowman, who previously wowed audiences in Heathers The Musical at The Other Palace, takes on the role of Heather McNamara.
Joining them is Kingsley Morton, renowned for his performance in The Addams Family, embodies the character of Martha Dunnstock. Alex Woodward, known for his role in Mamma Mia!, takes on the part of Kurt Kelly, and Morgan Jackson, also from Mamma Mia!, brings Ram Sweeney to life. Katie Paine, recognized for her work in We Will Rock You, portrays Ms. Fleming, while Jay Bryce, known for his role in Motown: The Musical, takes on the roles of Kurt’s Dad, Big-Bud Dean, and Principal.
Conor McFarlane, previously seen in Once, delivers a captivating performance as Ram’s Dad, Veronica’s Dad, and Coach Ripper. Tom Dickerson, from The Book of Mormon, tackles the character of Beleaguered Geek. Lizzie Emery, whose talent shines in Rent, adds her flair to the role of Midwestern Surfer Punk. Eliza Bowden, making her professional debut, embraces the character of New Wave Party Girl, while Eleanor Walsh, from The Rocky Horror Show, becomes the Drama Club Drama Queen.
Summer Priest, seen in Get Up Stand Up, brings her energy to the role of Young Republicanette, and Maeve Byrne, known for her performance in Grease, embodies the Stoner Chick. Liam Dean, recognized for his work in GYPSY, portrays the Hipster Dork, and Markus Sodergren, from Roles We’ll Never Play, takes on the character of Preppy Stud.
Behind the stage there’s a further huge team of talent. Produced by Bill Kenwright and Paul Taylor-Mills, Heathers The Musical promises wickedly funny and dazzling entertainment. As well as book, music, and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, direction by acclaimed American screen and stage director Andy Fickman, choreography by Gary Lloyd, design by David Shields, lighting by Ben Cracknell, musical direction by Will Joy, and sound by Dan Samson.
