Welsh singer/songwriter Eleri’s new single from her forthcoming album ‘The Carnival’ will be ‘Karaoke’ released on Friday 11th August via all the usual digital streaming providers.
The perfect addition to your summer playlist, ‘Karaoke’ is a fun summer story that has a hint of nostalgia as it reminisces about a romance that could have been.
The song was co-written with Vanessa Murray and Katie Buckland, produced by one the UK’s finest country music producers in Tim Prottey-Jones (First Time Flyers, The Wandering Hearts, Megan McKenna).
Karaoke tells the story of a short-lived young romance, that ultimately flickered out before it was given the chance to blossom. It’s brought to life with a bold, bright and catchy chorus backed with a country pop-rock production that showcases Eleri’s voice in a different light.
Eleri explains, “Karaoke is a happy nostalgic escape. I wrote this one in January 2021 when a loved one was very ill & I coped by imagining him away on tour as a big rockstar singing our favourite songs. We wrote this song over Zoom I’d debated cancelling the session as I wasn’t in the right frame of mind but went ahead with it as a distraction.
“I originally thought I might give the song to another artist, but when I showed my manager a voice note of the chorus, he straight away told me it had to be on the album! It quickly became one of my favourites.”
“It’s turned into this really fun story reliving memories of a young relationship, back when times were simpler. Tim did an excellent job of bringing this to life and I’m excited to hear everyone’s reaction to it. I’m just hoping for some sunshine here in Wales now as this is a Summer bop that needs to be blasted in a car with the windows down”
The Welsh country star has been on a roll this Summer following an impressive run of festivals across the UK, garnering national and international radio play for her last single ‘Good For A Girl’. Eleri shows no signs of stopping as all roads lead to The Carnival. October 13th will see the release of her second album, ‘The Carnival’ which will include the singles ‘Snake Like You’, ‘Good For A Girl’ and ‘Live Wire’. The very next day on Saturday 14th October, Eleri will bring ‘The Carnival’ to life with a full backing band to celebrate its release and bring to life some old favourites from her previous EPs and debut album ‘Earthbound’.
