Georgia May Foote Takes Breakfast At Tiffany’s

Strictly Come Dancing runner-up and Coronation Street favourite Georgia May Foote stars as Holly Golightly in the stage adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s at Cardiff New Theatre next week.

Based on Truman Capote’s beloved novella, Breakfast at Tiffany’s has been adapted for the stage by Pulitzer Prize-winning Finalist and Tony and Olivier Award-winning playwright Richard Greenber and is set in 1940s New York. Fred, a young writer from Louisiana, meets Holly Golightly, a charming, vivacious and utterly eluive good-time girl. Everyone falls in love with Holly – including Fred. But Fred is poor, and Holly’s other suitors include a playboy millionaire and the future president of Brazil. As war rages on in Europe, Holly begins to fall in love with Fred – just as her past catches up with her.

“It’s a different take on a love story,” Georgia tells Andy Howells, “Rather than boy meets girl, it’s a different twist, it’s quite deep and quite dark in places. If you really love the story and its cold outside, it’s a lovely play to come in, cuddle up and watch.”

Breakfast At Tiffany’s is Georgia’s stage debut and although she has previously performed in front of large audiences when she took part in Strictly Come Dancing this is the first time she will be seen singing as she performs the classic song Moon River. “I haven’t really done any singing up till now,” she laughs, “obviously I’ve done it at home or in my work when I’ve needed to but I do find it a nerve wracking, I just have to try and forget that I’m on the stage.”

  • Breakfast at Tiffanys is at the New Theatre November 7 – 12. For details about the show or to book tickets visit http://www.newtheatrecardiff.co.uk or call the Box Office on (029) 2087 8889.
