Santa’s Spectacular Big Pit Entrance

Father Christmas will make a special appearance at The BigPit this Sunday (December 18), but his traditional entrance of arriving via a chimney will be changed in favour of something completely different.

Father Christmas will arrive at Big Pit by traveling 300ft up from underground. As he arrives at ‘Pit Top’ there’ll be music from Blaenavon Town Band and chance for visitors to say hello.

Kathryn Jenkins, Communications Officer, said; “The elves have been busy for months in preparing for this special arrival. We really wanted to find a different way for Father Christmas to visit Big Pit this year on his way back to Lapland. It’s not often that you can say you’ve seen Father Christmas travel 300ft up a mineshaft!”

Once he’s arrived (and found his elves!), there’ll be an opportunity to visit Father Christmas in his cottage, tell him what’s on your Christmas list, get a gift and have a go at some Christmas crafts.

Father Christmas will be arriving from underground at 10.30am and will be in his cottage from 12-4pm. £5 per child. No booking necessary. For more information call (029) 2057 3650.
