Hijinx Moves Into the Light For Physical Theatre At The Sherman

Into The Light, a powerful piece of Physical Theatre that has been devised by Hijinx company over the last three years, premieres at Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre on February 15 ahead of a tour visiting England, Wales and Italy in March and April 2019.

The production explores the bittersweet attraction of the spotlight, and our constant desire for interaction and connection through social media.

Featuring an inclusive cast of nine performers from three European countries, this show seeks to bring exposure to unique capabilities of neurodivergent and Down’s Syndrome performers.

Scott Graham witnessed first-hand the unique capabilities of Hijinx actors having led a residency course for them in 2013.

Scott says “This is an emotive, honest and touching show where the performers will confound your expectations. It will blow your socks off.

“The diverse cast may not all share the same spoken language, but they all have a commonality in being able to tell a story and connect with the audience. This unique show reminds us that there’s a risk in stepping out into the limelight but that we all need to be acknowledged. We need to know that we’re alive.”

Into The Light, an exhilarating, beautiful and bold evening of entertainment, is supported by Arts Council Wales, Lottery Funding, Welsh Government, Arts Council England, Frantic Assembly and Sherman Theatre.
