Mr Carlos De Pass – An Audio Drama by Kyle Lima
Audio drama Mr Carlos De Pass, by Sherman Theatre Associate Artist Kyle Lima, tells the true story of an unsung hero of Black Welsh history. The play is based on interviews originally created for a Tiger Bay culture and heritage documentary for the Black Film & Video Workshop Wales Group in the 1980s. Kyle came across the tapes when researching his own family history in Tiger Bay, dating back to stories of his grandparents growing up in the area now known as Butetown.
With his great-grandson facing racism, Carlos De Pass shares the incredible story of his ordeal as a WWII Prisoner of War and what the experience taught him in this moving, heartfelt audio drama.
Touching on timely issues and the importance of intergenerational connection, Mr Carlos De Pass is Kyle Lima’s first play as a writer for Sherman Theatre.
