Half-Term Fun For The Kids with Newport Live

Newport Live already have an action-packed week underway for the half-term holidays including swimming, sports, crafts and more!

Finding fun activities to keep the kids occupied while their off school can be hard work, but don’t worry, Newport Live have done all the work for you. Look at what they’ve got planned, some activities are even FREE!

The Smartest Giant In Town

The Riverfront Theatre have The Smartest Giant in Town coming to their stage on 1 &; 2 November. The best-selling book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is brought to life in a musical, puppet-filled adventure, telling a heart-warming tale about friendship and helping those in need.

Keeping everyone physical, the Community Support and Wellbeing team have arranged several FREE Welly Walking for some fun, outdoor physical activities. Suitable for families with children aged 3 – 5 years, siblings are welcome.

This half-term The Riverfront are launching their first Future Creatives workshop for ages 16-21 years. It’s an exciting opportunity to get together, explore, talk, create and make new things happen! This workshop is FREE to attend and runs from 10am – 4pm on 2 November. Just turn up and join in!

Autumn Creativity From Sewing To Making Magazines

Returning to The Riverfront after the summer of fun, get your autumn creativity going at Heidi Makes on 3 November, this is a FREE workshop for children ages 8+. Oh! Susanna Sewing Club is also back on 1 November at 10am and 1pm for a FREE sewing lesson where children can make a textile item and take them home.

To mark the anniversary of Newport Rising, The Riverfront are hosting the workshop on 4 November, 1-4pm where people aged 11-25 years can create collages using Welsh newspapers and magazines using the material to stimulate interesting conversations about the future of our country.

Creative Conversations: Making Magazines at Newport Rising is FREE to attend! Additional sessions for adults are on between 10am-12pm.

Crafty Saturdays, Hub Rugby & Welsh Activities

With crafts, crafts and more crafts, don’t forget about Crafty Saturdays. On selected Saturdays of every month The Riverfront get crafty with some creative arts activities from 10am – 4pm. This is open to all ages and FREE to attend on the 5 November. Just turn up and join in!

If you are looking for something sportier, then why not try the FREE fun and engaging Hub Rugby sessions for 6-13 years old on 3 November. Healthy packed lunches are also provided.

If you are looking for Welsh activities, on 5 November at 8pm Un Noson Ola Leaud by Theatr bara Caws is in the studio theatre. This for anyone aged 14+ and is a performance about an extremely popular Welsh novel based on a boy growing up in a quarrying village in a community dominated by poverty, drink and religion, and peopled with a host of memorable, eccentric and tragic characters.
